Elzie W. Jenkins
Elzie William Jenkins, age 67, of Winchester, Virginia, died Friday, November 15, 2013, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Jenkins was born in 1946 in Culpeper, Virginia. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and served in Vietnam. He was the owner and operator of Winchester Boat Repair & Supplies, and was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Elzie was an active member of the Terrace Club, Fraternal Order of the Eagles and Veterans of Foreign War Post # 2123. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He married Jean “Carol” Slonaker on August 26, 2000, in Winchester, Virginia. His first wife, Darlene Jenkins, preceded him in death on December 13, 1998.
Surviving with his wife are daughters, Tina Ashby of Winchester, Virginia, Tammy Mitchell and husband, J. R. of Inwood, West Virginia, stepdaughters Barbara Funkhouser of Boyce, Virginia and April Givens of Martinsburg, West Virginia, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, sisters Tammy Ferrell and husband, Keith and Millie Jenkins, both of Winchester, Virginia, and brothers Bobby Jenkins and wife, Sharon of Inwood, West Virginia and Robert Jenkins and wife, Brenda of Winchester, Virginia.
Preceded in death by his second wife Darlene Jenkins. Survived by his first wife Shirley Fishel and current wife Jean “Carol” Jenkins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Funeral Celebrant Joseph R Dilleree officiating and Reverend Chuck Daughtery conducting closing prayers. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions to honor the memory of Elzie Jenkins may be made to the Jenkins Family, 220 Shenandoah Avenue, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
