Elizabeth “Ann” Hoak of Winchester VA departed this life February 2, 2019 at Med Star Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC, from complications of diabetes, developing Steven Johnson Syndrome.
Ann was born June 5, 1936 in Harpers Ferry WV the oldest child of David Matthew Hough and Elizabeth Monroe Sipe Hough. She was a graduate of Charles Town High School and attended Winchester Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. It was during that time she met her husband Roy Reid Hoak Jr. and they married in March of 1956. Ann and Roy had 3 children, Kymberly Reid Hoak Carpenter (Bruce), Roy “Reid” Hoak III (Carol) and Jennifer LeAnn Hoak Masters (Perry) all of Winchester, Frederick County.
Ann is survived by her children along with a sister Mary Hough Longerbeam, (Frank) of Harpers Ferry WV, brother David “Hoagie” Hough (Mary Louise) of Boyce VA. Grandchildren Ryan Hoak, Lauren Hoak, Daniel Masters, Kaitlyn Masters as well as 3 Great Grandchildren, 2 step Grandchildren and 4 Step Great Grandchildren, several nieces and Brother in law Charles Rhoads Hoak (Lea) along with special friend of 60 years Madonna Sponaugle.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Roy in 1999, her parents and son in law Rick Masters.
The family will receive friends on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
A funeral will be held at Omps Funeral Home Amherst Chapel on Friday at 11 am with Pastor Aaron Fitch officiating. Graveside service will follow at Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester VA.
