Dr. George Robbie Robinson of Winchester, VA, died peacefully on November 4, 2023, at the age of 84 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. His loving wife of 60 years, Joyce Lake Robinson, was with him at Hidden Springs Senior Living when he went home to be with the Lord.

Robbie was born in Winchester to parents Clarence and Lenna Robinson on August 14, 1939. He attended John Handley High School and was President of the Class of 1957. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1961 and attended the University of Georgia’s School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1965.

Robbie opened his own veterinary practice, Colony Animal Hospital, in Winchester in 1973. In addition to serving his clients and their animals until his retirement in 2009, he loved spending time with family. Robbie was a man marked by a deep faith in God and in God’s power and grace to accomplish eternal impact. Back in 1980, God called Robbie, his wife, Joyce, and three other couples to step out in faith and with much prayer and sacrifice, to plant a new church in Winchester called Fellowship Bible Church. Robbie’s godly leadership was instrumental in shaping Fellowship Bible Church to become an impactful church both locally and around the world through its many missionary ventures. It was that deep faith and Robbie’s heart for people and his God that left an indelible impression on anyone who knew him. And it was that firm belief in God’s power and grace that always motivated Robbie to give all glory to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Robbie is survived by his wife, Joyce, and was the loving father of three sons, David, Daniel, and Robbie. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, David and his wife Mary Delle’s two daughters, Audrey, Abbey and her husband Nick Volk-Perez, and son Drew and his wife Alana; Daniel and his wife Jill’s two daughters Anna and Megan, and two sons, Ben, and Matthew.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Clarence Gail Robinson, and his sister, Lila Robinson Sowell.

Visitation will be held at Fellowship Bible Church in Winchester on Saturday, November 11 at 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00. The burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery immediately following the service.
