Charles R. Swartz

Charles Roger Swartz, 78, of Frederick County, Virginia died Wednesday, November 3, 2010 in Winchester Medical Center.

Mr. Swartz was born in 1932, in Frederick County, Virginia, the son of the later Walter Scott and Ida Mae Swartz. He was a retired shipping clerk with Crown Cork & Seal in Winchester. He attended Church of the Good Shepherd. Mr. Swartz was a Veteran having served in the United States Army.

Surviving with the mother of his children, Helen Kathleen Swartz, is his daughter, Debbie Chapman and her husband, Lynn, of Winchester, Virginia; sons, Roger Swartz and wife, Debbie, Charles Swartz and wife, Carol, all of Winchester, Virginia; five grandchildren, Matthew, Rachael, Jason, Carrie and Chelsea; two brothers, Edward Swartz of Winchester, Aubry Swartz of Silver Spring, Maryland; and one sister, Mildred Nelson of Severna Park, Maryland.

He was one of thirteen children, he is preceded in death by five brothers, four sisters and one half-brother.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Vernon Bray and Pastor Ruth Crum Stotler officiating. Interment will be in Paynes Chapel Cemetery, Ridgeway, West Virginia with military honors afforded by VFW Post 2123.

The family will receive friends on Saturday prior to the service from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
