Charles G. Vance

Charles Gerald Vance “Charlie”, 76, of Winchester, VA, died Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, PA.  Mr. Vance was born in 1936 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late William B. and Dora L. Vance. He was a beer and wine distributor, retiring in 1998. Mr. Vance was a founder of Greenwood Fire Company, and was of the Lutheran faith.

He married Peggy Ann Sager on June 17, 1961 in Williamsport, MD, and they would have celebrated their fifty second wedding anniversary this summer.

Surviving with his wife are daughters Tammy Martin of Winchester, VA and Laurie Harris and husband, Franklin of Bunker Hill, WV; son, Scottie Lee Vance and companion, Toni Welzel of Capon Bridge, WV; three granddaughters and two grandsons; and his bosom buddy and best friend, his beloved dog “Gizmo.” Mr. Vance was the last of seven children, and was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
