Catherine Irene “Cathy” (Jenkins) McKay, 82 of Winchester, Virginia, died Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Commonwealth Senior Living Center, Front Royal, Virginia.
Cathy was born on Monday, April 12, 1943 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of Carson Lee & Nettie Agnes (Entsminger) Jenkins.
She was married June 12, 1965 at Round Hill United Methodist Church in Frederick County, Virginia to Archie L. McKay who survives her.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed reading and taking care of her children and grandchildren. During the 1980s she operated an in-home daycare.
She is also survived by three sons: Michael L. McKay (Maria Brock) of Winchester, Virginia; Robert S. McKay (Jodi) of Charlotte, North Carolina; & Jeffrey A. McKay (Heather) of Winchester, Virginia. Six grandchildren: Sierra Brock, Brady McKay, Quincy McKay, Wyatt McKay, Logan McKay & Emileigh McKay. Two brothers: John Jenkins of Martinsburg, West Virginia; & Leonard Jenkins of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, and two sisters: Frances Pittman of Norfolk, Virginia; & Dorothy Dean of Winchester, Virginia; and many nephews and nieces.
Along with her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by brothers, Arthur Jenkins, Douglas Jenkins, Norman Jenkins and Charles Jenkins; sister, Mary Furr; three nephews and seven nieces.
The family will receive friends from 3 pm to 4 pm on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, Virginia. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 4 pm with Pastor Doug Rinker officiating. Interment at Mount Hebron Cemetery will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Cathy’s memory to Henry & William Evans Home for Children, 330 E. Leicester Street, Winchester, VA 22601.
