Annette Rita Huettner, 82 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at her home.

Annette was born in 1943 in Fall River, MA, the daughter of the late Lucien and Marie Rose Carignan. She retired as the Office Administrator for Aurora University in Aurora, IL. Annette served in the Peace Corps in Togo West Africa, actively served in various community volunteer groups like Welcome Wagon, Cub Scouts as well as serving as a Candy Striper. She was part of the Lucky 50 Club in Montgomery Illinois. Annette enjoyed doing crafts, baking, hunting, fishing, and gardening. She had a passion for music and greatly enjoyed listening to music as well as playing bass and spoons at Bluegrass gatherings. She loved family gatherings and entertaining friends and was known for her home cooking.

She was married to Richard “Skip” Huettner, who preceded her in death after 31 years of happy marriage.

Annette is survived by her son, James T. Ross (wife Deb); daughter, Cindy M. Ross (husband Wil Argueta); stepson, Randy Huettner (wife Patti); and stepdaughter, Traci Martinez; sisters, Jeanne Y. Cotta, and Jacqueline T. Page; brother, Roger G. Carignan; and sister-in-law, Maria Elena Keeter-Carignan.

She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces

In addition to her parents, Annette is preceded in death by her brothers, Ronald K Carignan, Richard E. Carignan and Robert L. Carignan.

Services for Annette will be private.

I’m so glad I got to meet Annette. She was a lovely person and neighbor. My deepest condolences to her family, especially Cindy. My prayers are with you.

So very sorry for your loss. Annette and I became friends when we worked at MetLife in Aurora IL and continued our friendship after that. She was a special lady and I will miss her.
