Edith Copley Lambert
Edith Copley Lambert, 86, of Winchester, Virginia, died Friday, July 8, 2016, at Winchester Medical Center.
Edie was born in 1929 in Durham, North Carolina, the daughter of the late John J. and Goodman Copley. She was a graduate of Durham High School, Class of 1947, as well as Pfeiffer Junior College, class of 1949, with a degree in music. Edie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved her Lord Jesus with all her heart. She will be remembered for her love of family and her unfailing good humor. She loved people – she never met a stranger. She loved music, flowers, and languages. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Edie married David Lambert, Sr. on May 25, 1951 in Durham, North Carolina. The next 65 years were a wonderful love affair. She followed him around the world in his career in the United States Army and in his second career in association management.
Edie is survived by her husband Dave, her daughter, Dawn and husband Ernie Leighty of Locust Grove, Virginia; her three sons, David Lambert, Jr of Warrenton, Virginia, Eric Lambert and his wife April of Ashburn, Virginia, and Shawn D. Lambert and his wife Melissa of Jeffersonton, Virginia. Edie and Dave have 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren with two more on the way as well as many extended family members and close friends.
A committal service will be held at Mount Hebron Cemetery on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 1:00 PM. A celebration of life will follow at 3:00 PM at Eagle Heights Presbyterian Church, 403 S. Loudoun St., Winchester, Virginia 22601.
