Yvon “Pépère” Denis, 75, of Cross Junction, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at his home. Yvon was born in 1946 in Montreal, Quebec, son of Rollande Dubeau Denis and the late Armand Denis. He was a graduate of St Joseph’s High School and Montreal Technical College. He worked as a technician with Xerox Canada and then as a Technical Instructor for Xerox USA in Leesburg, VA, and retired in 2010 after 39 years of service. He volunteered at Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Leesburg, VA for many years.
He enjoyed landscaping and loved planting trees and was always working on a project in his house. He was a jack of all trades and could fix almost anything. A big-hearted man, capable of brightening a room with his strong sense of humor, he loved nothing more than spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Along with his mother, he is survived by his children Michel “Mike” Denis (Catherine) of Aurora, CO; Patrick Denis of Harpers Ferry, WV; Jaclyne Bowlds (Patrick) of Gainesville, VA; and Christian Denis (Kristina) of Ashburn, VA; and his brother, Serge Denis of Acton, Quebec, Canada; and his grandchildren, Alex and Ava, Lily and Tyler, Riley and Avery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 27, from 1-2pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester, VA. A memorial service will follow at 2pm with a reception afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America at https://myasthenia.org/Get-Involved/Donating. Please make donations in honor of Yvon Denis, with notifications to Jaclyne Bowlds, 8024 Montour Heights Dr, Gainesville, VA 20155.
