Woodrow “Woody” Vance, 78, of Frederick County, VA passed away Thursday, November 28, 2019, at his home.
Mr. Vance was born in 1941 in Grant County, WV, son of the late Fred Vance and Viola Miller; stepson of the late Clarence “Bubby” Miller. He was a truck driver and dedicated employee with King Wholesale, retiring after 25+ years. Mr. Vance was a 50-year member of Winchester Eagles Aerie 824, a member of the American Legion Post 137 in Capon Bridge, WV, and a member of the Terrace Club in Winchester. He enjoyed cutting/splitting wood, dancing, and playing the tip jars. Mr. Vance was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and NASCAR racing fan (as long as it was a Ford driver). He liked making apple butter, curing hams, and sowing/harvesting a vegetable garden. Mr. Vance never met a stranger, always willing to lend a helping hand. His favorite past-time was spending time with his family and friends.
His wife, Dorothy Vance, whom he married on November 16, 1959 in Cumberland, MD preceded him in death in 2012.
Surviving are daughters, Ramonda “Mondy” Perry of Stephens City, VA and Pamela Vance Booher of Pemberton, NJ; son, Mark Allen “Bubba” Vance (Jody) of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Christopher Edelen, Emily Gunter, Josh Perry, Brittany Booher, Jake Perry, Stephanie Booher, and Markayla Vance; great grandchildren, Joseph Khan, Dominic Edelen, Gabrielle Gunter, and Michael Booher; sisters, Wanda VanMeter, Martha Jane Hinkle, and Lucy Mae Rotruck, all of WV; and brother, Dorse Vance of Fredericksburg, VA.
Along with his parents, stepfather, and wife, Mr. Vance was preceded in death by a brother, Frederick J. Vance.
A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 am on Tuesday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, VA.
