Willis R. Michael
Willis R. “Bill” Michael, 87, of Winchester, VA, died Friday, April 15, 2011, at The Willows at Meadow Branch.
Mr. Michael was born in 1923 in Berkeley Springs, WV, the son of Roy L. and Pearl Michael. He had worked as a computer systems analyst at Mount Weather until his retirement. He was a 1940 graduate of Gainesboro High School and was a member of Burnt Presbyterian Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army as a staff sergeant.
Mr. Michael married Mary Triplitt Michael on October 27, 1946 in Hagerstown, MD.
Surviving with his wife of Winchester, is a son, Stephen W. Michael, and his wife, Donna, of Greenville, SC; four sisters, Vada Bowman of Winchester, Reva Green, Elzada Parish and Etta Smith, all of Gore, VA and a brother, Loyd Michael of Frederick County, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Naomi Mason and a brother, Ray Michael.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 1:00 P.M. at Burnt Presbyterian Church with Pastor Patrick Lanaghan officiating. Entombment will be in the Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Ed Carden, Thomas Beavers, Frederick Lineburg, Jeffrey Miller, Earl Smith and Loyd Michael.
The family received friends at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Sunday afternoon.
