William Henry “Billy” Cline, 75, of Clear Brook, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
Born in 1949, Billy was the son of Geraldine Cline and the late Henry M. Cline. He was a lifelong resident of Clear Brook and a devoted partner on the Cline’s family farm. A 1968 graduate of James Wood High School, he was an active member of the FFA holding various offices throughout the years.
Billy was a lifetime member of the Clear Brook Fire and Rescue and served on the Frederick County Planning Commission. Known for his warm smile and vibrant personality, he had a special gift for connecting with people of all ages. A true “kid at heart,” he made lasting friendships everywhere he went and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
On April 5, 1969, Billy married his childhood sweetheart, Sharon Lane Fahnestock. The couple recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Together, they committed themselves to both family and the lasting preservation of the family farm for the generations that would follow. Billy passed down his love of farming to his pride and joy, his granddaughter Emily, supporting her as she began pursuing her dream of building her own cattle herd.
Billy is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Cline; his mother, Geraldine Cline; daughter, Amy Cline Strosnider and her husband Mathew of Clear Brook, VA; and a granddaughter, Emily Lane Bucklew of Allegan, Michigan. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Cline (the late Judith) and John Cline (Rebecca); his sister, Rebecca Price (Tommy) all of Clear Brook; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no formal services. Billy will be laid to rest on the farmland he dearly loved—the same land he worked, walked, and called home.
