William F. (“Bil”) Golliday of Winchester passed from this life into his eternal heavenly home on October 12, 2024. Bil was born on January 3, 1945, the son of the late Paul and Martha Orndorff Golliday. He married Elizabeth Ann Wine, the love of his life, on January 3, 1970. Elizabeth predeceased him on February 3, 2016.
Bil is survived by his darling daughter, Amy Elizabeth Golliday Bell (Alan); his brother-in-law, John Robert Wine (Barbara) of Burkeville, VA; and many special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Being a part of the Body of Christ was always an important part of Bil’s life, and his faith in Jesus Christ was his guiding focus. Bil spent his early years in Stephens City and was an active member of the Stephens City Mennonite Church. After marrying Elizabeth, they were active members of Calvary Church of the Brethren (Calvary Covenant Brethren) and Agape Christian Church.
He graduated from James Wood High School in 1963. After high school, he was employed at Abex and then had a long career as a Respiratory Therapist. He retired from Winchester Medical Center in 2013 after nearly 40 years.
Family and friends were very important to Bil. He maintained friendships that he and Elizabeth had nurtured for many years and continued to enjoy frequent outings together. He was blessed with many special guys with whom he hunted, fished, or with whom he simply enjoyed life. He was an active member of the Big Horn Hunt Club, the Cottage Prayer Group at Calvary, and the senior “Classics” group at Abundant Life Church. Words cannot express what his friendships meant to him!
Bil blessed the world with his jovial demeanor, his kind and gentle spirit, his wise counsel, his listening ear, his big hugs, his fun stories, his sense of humor, and his quick wit.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday, October 21, 6-8 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel at 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, VA.
