William “Bill” Edward, beloved husband of Diana S. Risse, loving brother of Kathleen “Sandy” Winona Barbato(Robert), Beverly E. Teets (Helen) and the late J. Fred Teets., dear brother-in-law of Emily Teets, dear uncle of Lisa D. Garstka (Ed), Darryl Barbato, Debra A. Reeve (Keith) and the late J. Gary Teets, loving great uncle of 4. Friday, February 22, 2013. Age 77 years. A 1955 graduate of John Handley High School, Bill attended Bradddock Street United Methodist Church during his youth, served Rouss Fire Company as a volunteer while in high school, and also was a member of Rouss’s Drum and Bugle Corps. Entering the Air Force in 1955, he served eight years; his active duty service of 4 years, 9 months included assignments for 3 years in Germany. Bill’s 30-year civilian career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began at John W. Flannagan Dam & Reservoir in Clincho, VA in 1960, led to an assignment in its Huntington, West Virginia District Office headquarters, and featured 23 years of service as a Management Analysis Officer in the Corps’ Ohio River Division office in Cincinnati, Ohio before he retired there in 1991. Energetic and passionate about serving others, Bill used his vast carpentry, mechanical, and management skills to serve Methodist Church missions and other community organizations as a volunteer following his retirement. Visitation Saturday from 10-11 AM at the Omps Funeral Home South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, VA 22602 where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Shenandoah Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Westwood United Methodist Church, 3460 Epworth Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45211, the Hamilton Living Water Ministry, Inc., 510 South 8th Street, Hamilton, OH 45011 or to any animal welfare organization of your choice.
