William “Bill” Charles Hughes

William Charles Hughes, 57, of Winchester, Virginia, died, Sunday, August 3, 2014, in his home.

Mr. Hughes was born in 1956, in Easton, Pennsylvania, the son of W. Stewart Hughes, Jr. and Jeanne S. Hughes. Bill was employed for over 20 years as the general manager for Grubbs Chevrolet in Woodstock, Virginia. He was a loving son, father, brother and friend to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He will forever be remembered for his love of the Dallas Cowboys.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his daughter, Whitney Hughes of Winchester, Virginia and son, Brandon Hughes, and his wife, Morgan, also of Winchester, Virginia, as well as a sister, Carol Causa, of Leesburg, Virginia and brother, Stewart Scott Hughes, and his wife, Kimberly, of Atlanta Georgia. Bill is also survived by his loving friend and companion, Linda Blythe and her son, Alec Blythe.

He was preceded in death by his father William S. Hughes, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 9, 2014, from 4:00-6:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

I'm so saddened to hear of Bill's death. He was a good friend, business associate and golfing buddy of mine and I will truly miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bill was such a wonderful man. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was very shocked and saddened by the news of Bill's passing. Unfortunately, I had not seen him since the days that we worked together at VDO. I look back on those days with great fondness. His birthday was the same as mine and over the years when that day rolled around I would often think of him and what he might be doing. I will always remember his love of sport, music, and life. In my mind his spirit will be forever young. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones.

Very sorry to hear of Bill's untimely death. I worked at Grubb's Chevrolet part-time in the office for a few years and got to know Bill there. He was a nice person . One Saturday morning when I worked the office alone, we wondered why no one was calling and about 10:00 I realized I hadn't taken the phone off of night mode. He will be truly missed.
