William Albert Jones, 93, of Gore, VA, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023 peacefully at his home.
Bill was born in 1930 in Washington D.C., the son of the late William and Elizabeth Jones. He served our country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and played the trumpet in the Marine Corps Band. He retired from the Federal Government as an AID Agent. Bill was a Master Mason of the Alexandria-Washington Lodge #22, which is his home lodge. He was also a member of the American Legion and a member of the Honor Society of the 40/8 American Legion. Bill and his wife were also members of the Eastern Star, Chapter #42. He loved hunting, fishing, bowling, playing golf and was especially interested in photography.
He married Margaret “Jenny” G. Jones on July 30, 1948 in Washington D.C. She preceded him in death on December 24. 2005.
Bill is survived by his children, William A. Jones, Jr. and wife Annette, Richard A. Jones, Sandra “Sandi” Jett and her husband John; daughter-in-law, Lisa Jones; eleven grandchildren and his great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents; daughter, Theresa “Terry” Marie Jones; sons, Clifford E. Jones, Jeffery L. Jones and two grandchildren.
A visitation will be held for Bill on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 10am to 11:30am at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 2pm in Quantico National Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Alan Morrison.
