Wilda Maxine Sirbaugh Heishman, 80, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, September 23, 2013, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Heishman was born in 1932, in Cold Stream, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Leslie and Nora Belle Sirbaugh. She was a graduate of Franklin High School and a 1953 graduate of Winchester Memorial School of Nursing. Wilda was a Registered Nurse at Winchester Memorial Hospital. She also worked with Dr. George and James Troxell, and in later years was employed with several area nursing homes, retiring in 1992. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and nurse to many. Wilda had a passion for gardening and traveling. She was known for her love of her grandchildren and had a special place in her heart for her dog, Ziggy.
She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and also attended Smith Berkeley Baptist Church.
Her husband, Claude M. Heishman, preceded her in death on July 19, 1989.
Wilda also spent her later years with a faithful friend and companion, Keiver Jordan. Her family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to him for his love and support.
Surviving is her daughter Cynthia Whittle and her husband, Mark, of Stephens City; grandchildren, Ryan Whittle of Winchester and Kirk Whittle, of Stephens City; two sisters, Mildred Fishel of Middletown, Virginia, Janet Chafee and husband, Bob, of Wyalusing, Pennsylvania; and brother, Wallace Sirbaugh Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Wilda was preceded in death by two brothers, Dallas Sirbaugh and Lowell Sirbaugh.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Pastor Conrad Christenson and Reverend Donald Chandler officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
