Wilda Elaine (Ours) Smith “Billie Jo”, 80, of Frederick County, Virginia died Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at her home.
Mrs. Smith was born in 1936 in Cabins, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Homer and Gertrude Ours. She graduated from Petersburg High School in West Virginia, Class of 1954. Billie Jo worked for Federal Mogul until her retirement in 2004. After her retirement in 2004 she worked briefly for USPS until 2005. She enjoyed reading and traveling, especially to Florida. Billie Jo’s greatest love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and spending time with family. She was an Associate member of the Ruritan Club and was of the Catholic faith.
Her husband, Joseph William Smith, whom she married on December 14, 1957 in Midland, Maryland preceded her in death on June 14, 2008.
Surviving are daughters, Jackie Heflin and husband, Danny of Rock Hill, South Carolina and Tammy Taylor and husband, Rocky of Stephens City, Virginia; sons, Joe W. Smith, II and wife, Melody of Winchester, Virginia and Greg A. Smith and wife, Candi of Falling Waters, West Virginia; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Ray Jeana VanMeter of Cabins, West Virginia, Helen Shank of Morgantown, West Virginia, Shirley LeKang of Alexandria, Virginia, and Joan Lo’Re of Arlington, Texas; and brother, Kenneth “Cab” Ours of Bunker Hill, West Virginia.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Father Stanley J. Krempa officiating. Entombment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum, Winchester, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rodney Helmick, Scott Helmick, Ricky VanMeter, Dylan Rowe, Heather Motley, and Roger Hahn.
