Wayne Wellman Seipel, Sr., age 57, died on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center following a 3 week stay in critical care battling an incapacitating pneumonia and renal failure following a bicycle accident.
He was born in Livingston, NJ on October 6, 1968, the son of Stephanie P. “Penny” and Dr. Wayne D. Seipel of Frederick County, VA. Wayne struggled with alcohol and drug addiction since his teens. He graduated from James Wood High School in 1987 and went on to study psychology, sociology, and nutrition at NOVA Community College. Wayne had an innate ability to express himself with the written word. He took pride in being a house painter and was a self-taught drummer who could compose his own musical scores. Evidence of his artistic abilities abound in his home! An avid animal lover he was joined at the hip by his dog, Watty whom he believed could do no wrong.
A more loving and soft-hearted person would be hard to find as he opened his heart and home to one and all.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is survived by his sister, Sonja P. Sandler and brother-in-law Neil Sandler and their children, Emma and Nathan Sandler all of Frederick, MD; his uncles, Clif Seipel (Joyce) of Montville, NJ and Joe Records of Ocean City, MD; his son, Wayne W. Seipel, Jr. (Bridgette), mother of his son Wayne, Lori Cochran; granddaughters, Jordin Elaine and Lauren Grace Seipel of Inwood, WV and numerous cousins.
Wayne’s family wishes to express their utmost appreciation to the medical personnel at Winchester Medical Center during his 3 week stay in the critical care unit. “There are angels on earth,” Thank you all for your concern and his excellent care. Wayne’s smiling face and keen sense of humor will be missed.
All arrangements will be private, and we thank you for your understanding.
A Celebration of Life may be held at a later date.
