Wayne Lewis Patteson, 76, died Sunday, June 2, 2024, at Legacy Village Memory Care in Moultrie, GA. A lifelong Winchester resident, Wayne spent the past two years near his brother.
A graveside remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
Born July 17, 1947, in Winchester, Virginia, he was the son of the late Charles Alfred and Merle Smith Patteson. Wayne graduated in 1966 from James Wood High School and then received an associate degree in drafting from Northern Virginia Community College. He was a 27 year veteran of the Virginia National Guard and worked for 17 years in the Middle East Division of the Army Corps of Engineers. In that capacity he went to many areas of conflict. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Winchester, and volunteered there with the building committee. Wayne loved time spent in the Follies and working with his class reunion committee.
Survivors include his brother, Charles “Butch” Patteson and wife, Angelyn, of Moultrie, GA; nephew Andrew Patteson and wife Jennifer and sons Aiden and Jacob of Charlotte, NC; and niece Beth Rehberg and son Tucker of Jacksonville, FL; and many friends.
