Wayne A. “Smitty” Smith, 63, of Stephens City, Virginia, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020, with his loving family by his side at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Winchester, Virginia.
Wayne was born in 1956, in Alexandria, Virginia, the son of the late Martha and Wallace Smith. He was a graduate of Hayfield Secondary School, Class of 1975. Smitty was a retired Master Electrician and Foreman. He was a member of the IBEW Local #26 and the Vice President of Pioneer Baseball League – Lee District as well as a coach for his sons’ teams. He enjoyed Harley Motorcycles, working on cars, being a handyman and mechanic. Wayne was a Redskins fan (HTTR); he loved to grill and was a BBQ Master. He loved all animals, especially his dogs.
Wayne was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and best friend to his wife and sons.
He married Rebecca Ann “Becky” Rockwell on July 1, 1978, at Fort Belvoir in Alexandria, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are his sons, Robert Rockwell Smith (Alma) of Manassas, Virginia and Andrew Tyler Smith (Stephanie) of Alexandria, Virginia; grandchildren, Leah Rebecca Smith and Lana Victoria Rockwell Smith, both of Manassas, Virginia; sisters, Barbara “Bobbie” Anderson of Top Sail Island, North Carolina, Debbie Holleman (Jerry) of Knightdale, North Carolina, Darlene Miller of San Antonio, Texas; his nephew, Thomas “Tommy” Berry of Raleigh, North Carolina; as well as numerous nieces.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
