Following the service

Vernon Elwood McIntire 96 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.

Elwood was born in 1929 in Unger, WV, the son of the late Noah and Anna Hovermale McIntire. He was a graduate of Stephens City High School and the Kitchen and Bath Technical School in IL. Elwood retired as owner of Elwood McIntire Kitchen Specialists, LLC in Winchester. He was a dedicated member of the Kiwanis Club for many years. He loved his work as a Kitchen Specialist and found the creativity and design possibilities a great joy.

He married Pauline Catherine Funkhouser on May 17, 1958, in Frederick, MD
and she preceded him in death in March 2016.

Elwood is survived by his daughter Marsha Baden and her husband James.

In addition to his parents and wife, Elwood is preceded in death by his brother, Nelson McIntire.

A memorial service will be held for Elwood on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 11am at Christ Episcopal Church in Winchester. A time of food and fellowship will take place in the church social hall following the service. The Reverend Webster Gibson will be officiating.
