Valerie R. Mayer

        Valerie Rae Richmond Mayer, 57, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.

Mrs. Mayer was born in 1956, in California, the daughter of the late Joe and Patricia Richmond. She was the business manager for Radio Station WINC FM 92.5. Valerie was known for her warm heart and compassion. She was passionate about assisting organizations such as SPCA, Blue Ridge Hospice, and the United Way. In her spare time she loved the great outdoors, hiking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Mayer married Mark Mayer in June 2009, in Winchester, Virginia.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Jessica Hendricks and her husband, Jeff, of Richardson, Texas, Christa Mayer of Mercer, Pennsylvania; a son, Matthew Reynolds of Magnolia, Texas; three grandchildren, two sisters, Cynthia Pohlman and her husband, John, Melinda Donnelly and her husband, John; and a brother, Michael Richmond, all of Baltimore, Maryland.  One sister, Becky Champion, and one grandson, Carter Reynolds, preceded her in death.

Services will be conducted at a later date.
