Thomas A. Grove, Sr., 77, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, Virginia.

 

Mr. Grove was born in 1938, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Maynard E. and Eva Grace Grove. He was a graduate of James Wood High School and a veteran having served in the United States Army (1957-1959). He retired from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

 

He married Helen Frances Sullivan on March 3, 1961, in Winchester, Virginia.

 

Surviving with his wife of 54 years are daughters Ginnie Grove Stover (Tracy) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Brenda Grove Homer (Rick), Deborah Lynn Grove all of Winchester; sons Tag Grove (Kim), Tim Grove (Renee) all of Winchester; grandchildren Bobby Prebble, Ben Grove, Liz Grove, Allison Stover, Megan Stover Busam (Jeremy), Courtney Stover, Krista Homer Blakely (Taylor), Katelynn Homer, Catherine Love, Mercer Love, Brendan Love, Derek Bouck, Dane Bouck, Morgan Grove; great-grandchildren Jeffrey Bailey, Kayleigh Busam and Sullivan Grace Blakely; sisters Jane Grove Lake of Front Royal, Miriam Grove Cochran, Ann Grove Kibler (Everett) all of Winchester; brothers Robert D. Grove (Patty), Maynard W. Grove (Sandy) all of Winchester.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Donnie Grove.

 

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 18, 2015, from 6:00-8:00 pm, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, Front Royal Pike.

 

A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, Front Royal Pike, with Reverend Steve Melester officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675, Winchester SPCA, 115 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, VA 22601 or to your favorite charity.
