Therman L. “Buck” Anderson
Therman Leroy “Buck” Anderson, 85, of Stephenson, Virginia, died peacefully under the care of Blue Ridge Hospice, Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Anderson was born in 1927, in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Levi F. and Edna Ruth Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War.
He was a plumber with Local Union #5, retiring in 1989. Mr. Anderson was a member of Calvary Church of the Brethren since 1937. He was involved in the Boys Club in Springfield, Virginia as an assistant basketball and football coach. He enjoyed bowling with his wife on the church league and racing ATV’s with his son. In addition, he loved to hunt and fish and he and his wife spent 18 years during the winter months in Florida.
He married Delorse Jean Feaster on September 13, 1954, in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Greg Anderson and wife, Sarah, of Sarasota, Florida, Jerry Anderson and wife, Maria, of Winchester, Rick Anderson and special friend, Linda and her daughter, Chierren, of Stephenson; eight grandchildren, Sean Crowder, Brent Anderson, Lindsey Anderson, Zach Anderson, Brittany Anderson, Adriana Nicely, Colby Nicely and Michaela Nicely; two great grandchildren, Devin Crowder and Peyton Sullivan; and one sister, Beatie Nesselrodt of Winchester, Virginia.
One grandson, Jason Crowder, three sisters, Virginia Scott, Thelma Jenkins, Margie Vance and three brothers, Gordon Anderson, Levi Franklin Anderson, Jr. and Robert Anderson, preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Saturday, at Calvary Church of the Brethren with Pastor Clarence Davis and Reverend J. Floyd Wine officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery with Military honors afforded by VFW Post 2123.
