Thelma Louise Whittington Purdham, 77, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Friday, February 12, 2016, at her home.
Mrs. Purdham was born in 1938, in Strasburg, Virginia, the daughter of the late Mr. James & Jessie Whittington. She was employed as a grocery clerk serving more than 18 years with Grand Union Grocery Store. Thelma was a loyal and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to so many. She can be remembered for her love of all animals especially her cats as well as her passion for shopping and spending time with family. She was loved and cherished by so many and will be greatly missed.
She married Robert Lee Purdham, Sr. on January 25, 1958, in Hagerstown, Maryland. He preceded her in death on November 1, 2015.
Surviving are her daughters, Bonnie Diamantes and her husband David of Berryville, Virginia, Cindy Turner and her husband Wayne of Toms Brook, Virginia; son, Robert “Rob” L. Purdham of Front Royal, Virginia; granddaughter, Brittany Rene Purdham; and a brother, Howard Whittington and his wife Kay of Fort Washington, Maryland.
Thelma was preceded in death by her sister Nancy Ritter and brother Ernie Whittington.
All services for Thelma and her family will be private.
Entombment in Shenandoah Memorial Park Mausoleum will be at a later date.
