Thelma L. Snapp

Thelma Lucille Heishman Snapp, 73, of Frederick County, VA, died Monday, September 15, 2014, at her home.

Mrs. Snapp was born in 1940, in Frederick County, Virginia, the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Minnie L. Heishman. She was a graduate of JWHS, Class of 1960. Mrs. Snapp was an Alumni of the Quincy Orphanage and Home in Quincy, PA where she was also secretary of the Alumni Assoc. She was also an Administrative Assistant with the Frederick County Sanitation Authority retiring in 2007.

She was a member of the JWHS Class of 1960 relay for Life Team; Redland UMC Administrative Council and Redland UMC Rejoicers Choir. She was a former member of Mt. Pleasant/Lamps United Methodist Church, where she was the Past Administrative Council Chair, Lay Leader, Secretary to Administrative Council and a member of the choir. Mrs. Snapp was a Charter Member, former President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Mt. Pleasant/Lamps UMW. She was a former Executive Member of Zone 3 of Winchester District UMW, former member and past Chair for Winchester District UMW Membership Committee. Mrs. Snapp was a member, past leader, co-leader and secretary of TOPS Club #VA0056, Winchester.

She married Charles James Snapp on May 2, 1960.

Surviving with her husband is her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Ott and husband, Steve; sons, Charles “Jim” Snapp, Jr. and wife, Tammy, Michael “Mike” Snapp and wife, Stacy, all of Frederick County, seven grandchildren, Kristle Snapp, Cody Snapp, Jonathan Ott, Zachary Ott, Cameron Ott, Jennifer Snapp, Justin Snapp; her sister, Dorothy Heishman; brothers, John A. and wife, Nancy and Earl Heishman and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Melissa Porter-Miller and Pastor Todd Heishman officiating. Interment will be private.

I knew Thelma through TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). She was a proud KOPS member, having reached her goal and maintaining it. She encouraged all her fellow members, helping them believe that they too could reach their goals. She was active in her chapter and helped at many of our area meetings. She was a very special person, and she is going to be missed by all who knew her.

Thelma was a wonderful lady. She will be greatly missed.

I'm blessed and it is a great honor to have Thelma as a friend since high school. I'll miss her like all who knew her. My condolences to Charlie and the family. Her great love and memories will always be with you. God has another angel.

I want to send my condolence to the family with my blessings and prayers. She was a good friend and helped me learn as a child at Mt Pleasant Church to be a better person. I have sang many a song with her in the chair. She had a beautiful voice and loved the lord. Now she is seeing the lord personally and I know I will see her again in heaven.

I enjoyed working with Thelma. She was a professional at her job. She always conducted herself in a dignified manner and, as such, gained the respect of those she came in contact

I worked with Thelma for over 10 years. She always had a smile and always had the right answer. She was a very professional person. I can say it has been an honor to know Thelma. God bless you Thelma.

I am so sorry to hear of Thema's passing. Like so many who worked with her at Capital Records long ago, I remember how she took on the role being our "Mom", at work, and I cannot remember a time when she was not upbeat, and to willing to help in anyway. I am deeply soory for the loss of Thelma Snapp. I became acquainted with Thelma through United Methodist Women and always admired her committment and love for the organization. She was a great source of knowledge and encouraged so many of us through her dedication. She led the Winchester District and her Zone in a quiet and loving way. She will surely be missed by us in the United Methodist Women.
