Susie, so sorry for your loss. I grew up with Strother and his family. You may not remember me. I am Brenda Haines Grill’s sister. Praying for you and your family during this very difficult time.
To all his brothers and sisters, so sorry for your loss. We all grew up together with one house between us on Orchard Ave. We spent lots of time together and had good times. May God keep you during this sad time.
Susie and family - We always looked forward to family events that included Strother as we were guaranteed a story that ended in a chuckle. He will always have a warm spot in our hearts. Love, Sandra, Mike, Natalie and Alex
Suzie and family, Donna and I loved Strother--the house he built for us, The time we got to spend with you both and the wisdom mixed with humor Strother provided in every conversation. We all should know with his untimely passing that shorts are now fashionable in heaven with Strother`s arrival.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

We're so deeply sorry for your loss. Strother was a great person. Always had a great sense of humor and never had anything bad to say about anyone.
A sad day for a kind soul. Strother took me and my Brother at an early age to teach us what it means to be a good men. He taught us to be tough in challenging times and kind to those who where less fortunate in life. That message echo all my life as well as my philanthropy.
I followed Strother in sports wrestling as District Champion, went into the Army and later Shepherd Football with the great coach Walter Barr.
Although in time we drifted apart as old friends and family do in life my memories of his motivations and don’t quit Larry unless it is on your terms became my moral compass.
Someone told me once that I would never go to college and Strother said don’t listen to them believe in yourself. After graduating from Harvard and later becoming a professor at Shepherd and Harvard University I contribute it my uncle don’t quit attitude.
Susie and the girls have always been the kindness ladies I ever knew and will always be in my prayers.
It is rare for a poor kid to get out of poverty but Strother lead the way for me and my Brother to follow.
Forever grateful and we will join the great team in heaven one day. Say hi to Grandma and mom!
❤️

Uncle Strother, what can I say? You were very instrumental in my life! You taught me to measure twice and cut once. How to drive a 16-penny nail into a 2x4. How to work hard and play hard all those summers. Your character, work ethic, and inspiration cannot be replaced and will be always cherished. I will miss you very much!
Love,
Chris
