Shirley Ann Yoder, age 80, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016, in Winchester Medical Center, Winchester, VA.
Shirley was born in Hickory, North Carolina in 1935, the daughter of the late Glenn R. and Garnett C. Lail. She graduated from St. Stephens High School and received her Associates Degree from Clevenger Business School. She served as the Administrator for the Elon Homes of Children as well as the Director of Emmanuel Day Care, Burlington, North Carolina. She was a very active member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Burlington, NC and a member of the American Business Woman’s Association where she was named “Woman of the Year”.
Shirley married Hal Franklin Yoder in Hickory, North Carolina in June, 1960.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her daughter, Melissa Yoder Ricks; seven grandchildren, and her sister, Peggy Horton. Her brother, Wayne Lail preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Burlington, NC.

Melissa and Mr. Yoder, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Yoder. I remember her from being a friend of Melissa's for many years. She was always quite kind to me and I'm sure she will be missed a great deal by you two and all the grandchildren. I'm praying for peace for your family as you morn your tremendous loss.
