Shirley Temple (Lee) Hinchey

Shirley Temple (Lee) Hinchey, age 75, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Saturday, December 17, 2011, in Winchester Medical Center.

Mrs. Hinchey was born in 1936, in Grundy, Virginia, the daughter of the late Robert E. and Virginia Lee. She owned and operated Shirley’s Ceramics for 30 years. She loved to crochet, work with flowers, and crafts. She was very devoted to her family. Shirley was a prayer warrior for those in need. She was a member of Maranatha Fellowship.

She married Claude Ray Hinchey, Sr. in Spartanburg, South Carolina on August 25, 1950. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2001.

Surviving are daughters Patricia Cackowski and husband, Joseph, of Culpeper, Virginia, Sandra Renner and husband, Lenny, of Winchester, Virginia, and Pamela Crawford and husband, Dennis of Stephens City, Virginia; and a son, Claude Ray Hinchey, Jr. and wife, Luanne of Middletown, VA; grandchildren, Donald Castle, Rebecca Wine, Christopher Kain, Natalie Loudan, Adrienne Grady, Dewey Grady III, Caleb Hinchey, Matthew Cackowski, Michele Fishel, and Samantha Wynkoop; fifteen great grandchildren; and a sister Faye Gregory of Leesburg, Florida. She is also survived by longtime friends Bonnie and Bud Miller.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 22, 2011, at 1:00 PM, at Victory Church, Middle Road. Pastor Marsha J. Moore Webb of Langley, SC will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Middletown, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Claude Ray Hinchey Jr., Caleb Hinchey, Taylor Loudan, Andrew Loudan, Dewey Grady, Lenny Renner, Roy Reynolds, and Kevin Loudan.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

Learned to know and love Shirley while taking ceramics classes at her home and at her shop in Stephens City. Always a very caring person who loved people, loved life, and most of all, loved her Lord and Savior. Aunt Shirley was a second mother to me growing up in Abingdon. I will miss her and I am so sorry for the loss of very kind lady. My thoughts and prayers are with Pat, Sandra, Pam and Ray. Charlie Gregory
