Shirley Gregory McBride, 87, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury. Shirley Gregory McBride, 87, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury.
Mrs. McBride was born in 1930 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of the late Charles F. and Louise C. Gregory. She graduated from Florida State University earning a Bachelor of Science degree. Mrs. McBride was a trained social worker who had a genuine love for helping people. Her passions were sewing, cooking, music….and most of all, ice cream. Mrs. McBride was a homemaker, taking care of their home and raising three daughters. Her faith and her family always came first and foremost throughout her life. She was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church.
Her husband of 47 years and love of her life, Patrick W. McBride, Jr., whom she married on September 11, 1953 in Hollywood, Florida preceded her in death in 2002.
Surviving are daughters, Linda L. McBride of Lilburn, Georgia; Deborah M. Reed (David) of Staunton, Virginia; Patricia M. Hester of Winchester, Virginia; grandchildren, Christopher K. Krantz of Lilburn, Georgia; Andrew P. Reed and Rebecca L. Ambrogi of Staunton, Virginia; Brian J., Jason G., and Allen T. Hester of Winchester, Virginia; great grandchildren, Grayson Reed; Reed, Samuel, and Jack Ambrogi; Anna, Elise, and Brynley Hester; Paxton and Collins Hester.
Along with her parents and husband, Patrick, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence F. Gregory.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Braddock Street United Methodist Church with Reverend Kirk Nave and Pastor Larry Lawhon officiating. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be private in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
