Sherman Ryan Ritter, 73 of White Post, VA, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, peacefully at his home.

Sherman was born in 1951 in Winchester, VA, the son of Ozias and Isabelle Ritter. He retired after 42 years of service as a production laborer for Crown, Cork and Seal. Sherman loved being outdoors when the weather was hot. He loved animals, reading the Bible and was a known jokester. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife, Abbie whom he married on November 17, 1973; son, Perry Ryan Ritter and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, John and Dwayne Ritter; great granddaughter, Gracie Ritter, brother, Michael Ritter; twin sister, Sharon Ritter; sisters-in-law, Libby Ritter, Linda Ritter, Nancy Sirbaugh; brothers-in-law, Mark Ritter, Doug Brill and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Sherman is preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Brill and his brothers, Linwood “Bubby” Ritter and Walter Ritter.

A visitation will be held for Sherman on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm with a service to follow the following day, Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 2pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sherman to any animal charity of the donor’s choice.
