Samuel James Volpe, 98, of Berryville, Virginia, died Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at a local nursing home.

Mr. Volpe, was born in 1917, in Rochester, New York, the son of the late Vincent and Nicolleta Volpe. He was a veteran having served the U.S. Army, during World War II. Having retired, he was self-employed as a contractor.

His wife, Carmella V. Volpe, whom he married on December 31, 1943 preceded him in death on April 25, 1992.

Surviving are his son, Fred Volpe, of Leesburg, Virginia; grandchildren, William Volpe and Scott Volpe; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Andrew, Lucas, Max, and Blake Volpe; and his brother, James Volpe, of Silver Springs, Maryland.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
