Ryan Christopher Wyrick, 38, of Inwood, West Virginia, formerly of Winchester, died unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, after suffering a heart attack in his sleep.
Ryan was born Jan. 30, 1986, in Alexandria, the son of David Carlton Wyrick and Audrey Hughes Brehm, and he lived his life on his own terms. While he worked assorted jobs in retail, security and software support, his true passions were gaming, particularly Dungeons and Dragons and Warcraft, and being a stay-at-home father to his son. Since Corbin John Wyrick was born on Feb. 4, 2014, Ryan spent every day with his child, forging a bond that will be eternal. When he wasn’t being a dad, Ryan enjoyed spending time with his fellow gamers, both online and in person.
Surviving are Ryan’s son, of Inwood; his mother and her husband, Brian Charles Brehm, both of Inwood; his father and his wife, Cheryl Fox-Wyrick, both of Front Royal; his sister, Amanda Juliet Wyrick, of Martinsburg, West Virginia; his brother, Quinten Baird Brehm, of Inwood, WV; his brother, David Wyrick, Jr. of Front Royal, VA; his maternal grandmother, Juliet Dodd Hughes of Woodbridge; his paternal grandfather, Andrew Wyrick; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Also surviving is the mother of his child, Cynthia Dryden, of Martinsburg, and friends all around the world. Ryan was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John Peyton Hughes; paternal grandmother, Marilyn Wyrick; and his lifelong best friend, Ashley Michelle Pyle.
A celebration of Ryan’s life will be held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel in the Reception Center on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM. Anybody who would like to share their memories of Ryan is encouraged to do so at any time during the celebration.
The last words ever spoken to Ryan were from his mother, stepfather and brother: “I love you.” In Ryan’s memory, please tell the people in your life how much you love and value them.
