Ruthanna R. Shell
Ruthanna Willetta Ramey Adams Shell, 93, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away peacefully April 19, 2012, at the home of her daughter, Peggy, in Richmond, Virginia.
Mrs. Shell was a devoted mother and friend to many. She was born on December 19, 1918 in Hayfield, Virginia. She was a cheerful hairstylist with Alecia Beauty Salon in Winchester for 44 years, and a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Hayfield, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer Shell, her parents, Russell Boyd Ramey and Mable Estelle Ramey, and her brother Linden R. Ramey, Sr.
She is survived by four daughters, Willetta Jean “Billie” Whittington (Doyle) and Augusta Virginia “Jenny” Dodson (Carroll) of Winchester, and Joyce Ann “Peggy” Smith and Jamie Gale Grove (John) of Richmond, and her brother, Rodger A. Ramey (Jane) of Winchester. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:30pm until 2:00pm on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Omps Funeral Home, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, Virginia. A celebration of life service will follow at 2:00pm with the Reverend John Morrison officiating. Interment to Mt. Olive Cemetery, Hayfield, Virginia, will immediately follow the service. Pallbearers will be nephews Bobby, Dickie, David, Phil, Rodger, and Jim Ramey.
Her family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Medi Home Health & Hospice staff of Richmond, Virginia, especially the Case Manager, Irene, for the loving care of Mrs. Shell and the support provided to the family.
