Russell V. Fine
Russell Vincent Fine died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at 101 years of age, in his home in Winchester, Virginia.
Mr. Fine was born in 1912, in Dover, New Jersey, the son of the late Harry and Mary Fine. He married Edith Stephens in Dover, New Jersey and raised a family there for many years. Mr. Fine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Milford, Delaware. He first retired from the Lackawanna Railroad, and then retired as Church Caretaker in 1975 from the First Presbyterian Church in Dover, New Jersey. They then moved to Slaughter Beach, Delaware.
Russell and Edith enjoyed the retirement life of fishing and crabbing on the Delaware seashore until Edith’s death on January 3, 2008. They were married for 78 years. Russell then moved to Virginia where he enjoyed the rest of his life, surrounded by his family and his two best buddies, grand-dogs Daisy and Nola, who will miss him greatly.
Surviving are his daughters, Barbara J. Pearce of Virginia; Janice A. Fine of New Jersey; son, Russell H. Fine of Texas; five grandchildren, Kathleen Pearce, Lauren Pearce, Michaele Kedanis, Joy Lynn Padilla, step-grandson, Donald David nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Two grandchildren, Leigh Fine and Russ Fine, his sister, Isabell Valentine and brother, Roy Fine, preceded him in death.
A graveside service will be conducted for both Edith and Russell on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM in Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover, New Jersey.
