Ruby Sewell, 92, of Winchester, VA, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at The Willows at Meadow Branch.

Mrs. Sewell was born in 1931 in Frederick County, VA, daughter of the late Ernest and Louella Milburn. She graduated from Stonewall High School and was a stay-at-home Mom and homemaker. Ruby enjoyed gardening, golfing, bowling, and hiking with her sister, the late Pat Swisher. She was a member of Braddock Street United Methodist Church and was a huge prayer warrior.

Ruby married Delmas “Del” Sewell who preceded her in death in 1982.

Surviving is a daughter, Gail Unger (the late Don Unger) of Winchester, VA and son, John Craig Sewell (Bonnie) of Frederick County, VA; grandchildren, Heather Hess (Don), Erika Shelly, and Hillary Stains (Joe); great grandchildren, John Shelly, Sydni Mullins (Hunter), Jacob Shelly, Luke Shelly, Evanlyn Hess, Maggie Stains, and Elliot Stains; great great grandchild, Alayna Mullins; brother, Eugene Milburn (Pat) of Spring Grove, VA; nieces and nephews, Jackie and Jimmy Milburn (Anne), and Julie Ryan (Charlie).

Along with her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Swisher; brother-in-law, Buddy Swisher; and nephew, Ricky Phillips.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Blue Ridge Hospice and The Willows at Meadow Branch for the loving care given to Ruby and support extended to the family during a difficult time.

A visitation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, followed by the service at 1 pm with Pastor Dave Kessell and Pastor Vernon Bray officiating. Interment will be private.
