“Peachy” Rosalie McKay Wright, 67, of Stephens City, Virginia passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family and friends. Her passing was due to complications of COPD caused from smoking.
Mrs. Wright was born in 1949 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Johnathan W. “Corky” and Dale V. McKay. She graduated from James Wood High School, class of 1967. Peachy worked in the customer service department for Rubbermaid and Valley Proteins, then as a caregiver for Home Instead. She was a member of the Pilot Club, volunteered at the Shenandoah Valley Center for Aging, as well as for the Stephens City Volunteer Fire Department. Peachy loved to travel and go to the beach with friends and family. She collected camel figurines, liked to “play in the dirt,” was an avid reader, a Cowboys fan, and a classical music fan – especially of Tchaikovsky’s music. Most of all, she enjoyed being around people, her friends, and family.
Her husband, David “Michael” Wright, whom she married in Stephens City, Virginia, on August 22, 1987, preceded her in death in 2003.
Surviving are daughter, Keightley R. Henry (significant other, Lanny Tinsman), Stephens City, VA; son, Shane P. Henry (significant other, Beth Elgin), Winchester, VA; sister, Ruth “Tweety” Eastep, Winchester, VA and a cousin who was like a sister, Myrlin D. Borror-Taylor (Gil), Winchester, VA.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, June 17, 2016 at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Dr. Reverend Sara Hudson officiating. Interment will follow at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Following the services, family and friends are invited back to the Stephens City Volunteer Fire Department, 5346 Mulberry St., Stephens City, VA 22655 for a time of food and fellowship. Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to share.
