Rosa “Rosie” Lobas Longo, 87, of Martinsburg, WV passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg.
Mrs. Longo was born in 1929 in Pageton, WV, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Lobas. She attended Welch High School in Welch, WV. Mrs. Longo retired from Loudoun County School District where she worked in food services. After retirement from the school district, she became a cook with the Archdiocese of Arlington. Her greatest passion was cooking. She would fix meals for family gatherings and insisted on handling all the preparation for those functions. She showed her love to everyone by preparing food for them.
Mrs. Longo married Joseph Carlo Longo, Jr. in Welch, WV 65 years ago.
Surviving with her husband are sons, Joseph Longo, III (Dorothy) of Front Royal, VA, John Longo of Sterling, VA, and James “Jimmy” Longo of Martinsburg, WV; daughters, Maria Riddle (Billy) of Rising Sun, MD, Margaret Guy of Sterling, VA, and Caroline Franklin (Michael) of Manassas, VA; grandchildren, Erica Wommack, Joseph Longo, IV, Dawn Schweickert, Sean, Steven and Mario Longo, Billy and Charlie Riddle, Jack McCall, and Logan Franklin; great grandchildren, Aaron, Anthony, Bailey, Alexis, Tony, and Joseph V; sister, Teresa Donithan of Havaco, WV and brother, Dominick Lobas of North East, MD.
Mrs. Longo was preceded in death by a sister, Angeline DeHaven and brothers, Billy and Jimmy Lobas.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 5-6:30 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, 1600 Amherst Street, Winchester, VA, 22601. A funeral service will follow at 6:30 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Ross Halbersma officiating. A reception will be held following the service at the Shenandoah Farms Community Center, 6401 Howellsville Road, Front Royal, VA, 22630.
A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2 pm at Iaeger Memorial Cemetery located in Roderfield, WV with Pastor Rhodeena Hatfield officiating.
Memorial contributions in memory of Rosa may be made to Havaco Community Church.
