Roger G. Henderberg, 82 of Cross Junction, VA, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at his home.
Roger was born in Rochester, NY, the son of the late Russell and Dorothy Henderberg. He was a graduate of Edison Tech High School in Rochester. Roger retired in 1997 as a plate maker for Lawyers-Cooperative Publishing in Webster, NY.
Roger enjoyed canoeing, hiking, camping, NASCAR races, traveling to Hawaii, England, Russia and the U.S. He spent many years volunteering with the North-South Skirmish Association, Gainesboro Ruritans, docent of the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley, volunteer and docent of the Pritchard House Battlefield and the Winchester Civil War Museum as well as helping at Redland Church. He gave presentations to local schools, hospitals and the community. His Civil War connections enabled him to be a small part of the movie Gods and Generals.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, whom he married on January 18, 1964; sons, Jason Henderberg and his wife, Karen and Darrin Henderberg and his wife, Beth; grandchildren, Elyssa and Beckam and his brother, David Henderberg.
A memorial service will be conducted for Roger on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 11am at Redland Church in Cross Junction. Luncheon to follow.
