Rodney W. VanMeter, 67 of Stephens City, VA, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center.
Rodney was born in 1957 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Clyde and Rebecca VanMeter. He was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1976. Rodney worked as a warehouse operator for O’Sullivan’s for 20 years and then retired after working 15 years for H.P. Hood. He was a member of the Eagles Club. Rodney enjoyed metal detecting with his wife and was an avid Texas Rangers, Washington Capitals and Washington Commanders fan. In his younger years, Rodney was quite the softball player. He also enjoyed being outdoors and going hunting & fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Diane whom he married on December 23, 1985, his son, Rodney Wayne VanMeter II of Augusta, WV, granddaughter, Brianna Nicole VanMeter of Augusta, WV and his brother, Clyde Lewis “Lou” VanMeter (Carol) of Winchester, VA.
Along with his parents Rodney is predeceased by his sister, Debbie VanMeter.
A visitation will be held for Rodney on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11am at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel followed by a graveside service in Shenandoah Memorial Park at 12pm.
