CPO Robert L. Davis, Sr. (USN Ret.)
Robert Lee Davis, Sr., 77, of Capon Springs, West Virginia, died Tuesday, October 23, 2012, in his home.
Mr. Davis was born in 1934, in Gainesboro, Virginia, the son of the late Joseph N. and Flora V. Davis, Sr. He was a member of Gainesboro United Methodist Church. Mr. Davis was a retired Veteran having served in the Unites States Navy, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer, E-6.
He married Gloria Irene Jenkins on December 5, 1970, in Williamsport, Maryland.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Tina Marie Barrows of Norfolk, Stephanie Renee Davis of Richmond,and Rebecca Leigh Sneden of Cumberland, Maryland; three sons, Robert Lee Davis, Jr., of Stephens City, Douglas Eugene Davis of Norfolk, and Hugh Thomas Davis of Sterling; sixteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Pauline DeHaven and Viola Palmer of Gainesboro, Esther Fore of Roanoke and two brothers, Joseph N, Davis, Jr., of Gainesboro and William Eugene Davis of Shockeysville. He was preceded in death by a son, Bentley Nathaniel Davis.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Gary Palmer officiating. Interment will be in Gainesboro Cemetery, Gainesboro, Virginia. Military Honors accorded by VFW Post 2123.
Pallbearers will be Mike Palmer, Ronnie Palmer, Daniel Thompson, Jake Davis, Chuck Jenkins and Bill Kitner. Honorary Pallbearers will be Christopher Kitner and Michael Prince.
