Richard Terry LaFollette,79 of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024.
Dick was born in 1944 in Winchester, VA, the son of the late Alston “Pete” Richard LaFollette and Mildred LaFollette Carr. He graduated from John Handley High School, Class of 1964 and attended the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. Dick began his career manufacturing steam boilers for naval war ships during the Vietnam War and retired as President/CEO of Air & Hydraulic Equipment in Chattanooga for over 40 years. He loved Tennessee football, racing Dwarf Cars and NASCAR where he attended the Daytona 500 many times. Most of all, Dick loved spending time with his dogs and beloved family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo whom he married on February 1, 1985; sons, William LaFollette (Mitzie) of Flowery Branch, GA, Richard LaFollette (Reneè) of Chattanooga, TN, Forrest “Chip” Sirbaugh (Donna) of Winchester, VA and Craig Sirbaugh (Ally) of Hagerstown, MD; grandchildren, Adam LaFollette (Kaitlyn), Tyler LaFollette, Kate Prisk (Chandler), Mason LaFollette (Olivia), Noah Sirbaugh (fiancé, Melanie), Rosser Sirbaugh, Jackson Sirbaugh, Lacey Sirbaugh, Braden Sirbaugh and Jordan Maloney; great-grandchildren, Piper, Eden, Alexis and Jake; great great-grandchild, Cooper; sisters, Bonnie Hall of Scottsdale, AZ, Lanette Rhodes (Robbie) of Sequim, WA and his beautiful, beloved Irish Setters, Riley and Rory.
He is preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, Clay Carr and sister, Wanda Sandy.
The pallbearers will be Dick’s grandsons.
