Richard Rowland Ruffner, Sr., 54, of Hagerstown, MD, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in Gore, VA.

Mr. Ruffner was born on in 1957, in Clarke County, VA, the son of the late Owen and Lucille Ruffner. He was a groom at Charlestown Race Track. Mr. Ruffner loved horses, hunting and carpentry.

Surviving is his daughter, Sheri Ruffner of Las Vegas, NV; sons, Richard R. Ruffner, Jr., of Bunker Hill, WV; Randy Ruffner of Germany; ten grandchildren, Dylan Ruffner, Devin Ruffner, Destiny Ruffner, Isabella Diaz, Kaiynn Chapman, Joseph Kolpack, Brady Kolpack, Patrick Kolpack, Jaydin Kolpack and Marcus Pryor; sisters, Kathryn Pickle of Berryville, Evelyn Longerbeam of Pine Grove, VA; Karen Baldridge of Ranson, WV; brothers, Owen Ruffner, Jr. of Winchester, VA, Lewis Ruffner, Sr, of Charlestown, WV, Kenneth Ruffner, Sr. of Ranson, WV, James Ruffner of Charlestown, Robert Lee Ruffner of Boyce, VA Raymond Ruffner of Harpers Ferry, WV Thomas Ruffner, Sr., of Harpers Ferry, WV.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Ann Milbourne and Doris Manuel.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
