Richard Eugene Sharp, 79, of Stephens City, Virginia died Monday, May 2, 2016 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Sharp was born in 1936, in Marlinton, West Virginia, the son of the late Mary and Lanty Sharp. He was a graduate of Marlinton High School, Class of 1954. Mr. Sharp was a Parts Manager with Central Motor Company based in Springfield, Virginia, retiring after 45 years of service in 2006. He attended Macedonia United Methodist Church in Frederick County. Mr. Sharp’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, car rides, and traveling. He was an avid Redskins fan, WVU Mountaineers fan and liked to hunt and fish in his formative years. As a loving grandfather, he very rarely missed his grandchildren’s sports events.
He married Wanda Friel on August 13, 1960, in Marlinton, West Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are his daughters, Lana Kay O’Grady and husband, Mike, of Fairfax, Virginia, Kristie Sharp of Lovettsville, Virginia, Hope Thoresen and husband, Finn, of Berryville, Virginia, Jill McKallip and husband, Rob, of Forsyth, Georgia; adopted daughter, Christi Trefny of Centerville, Virginia; grandchildren, Lee, Amber, Shana, Eli, Brant, Reese, Logan, Brady, Conor, Rilyn, Ava, Maela, Isaac, Hunter, his adopted grandson; great grandchildren, Jayden, Jordan, Khloe, Anthony, Logan and Brayden.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday, from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM at Macedonia United Methodist Church
A celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Macedonia United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Mayton officiating.
