Richard “Clark” Purcell, 93, of Clear Brook, Virginia passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 in Inwood, West Virginia.
Clark was born in 1923 in Brucetown, Virginia, the son of the late Samuel Byrd and Hettie Purcell. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during WWII. Clark was a construction worker assisting with the building of government buildings and bridges. He was also a beef cattle farmer and enjoyed planting a garden every year, as well as fishing. Clark was of the Protestant faith.
His wife, Mildred Purcell, preceded him in death in 2011.
Surviving are daughters, Cornelia White and Sheila Statham; stepdaughter, LaRue Michael; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Along with his parents and wife Clark was preceded in death by two brothers, Ward and Delaney Purcell.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
Interment will be private.
