Richard A. Clowser
Richard “Rick” Alan Clowser, age 75, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Hospice of the Panhandle, Kearneysville, West Virginia.
Mr. Clowser was born in 1943, in Chillicothe, Ohio, the son of the late Franklin K. and Sadie A. Clowser. He was a graduate of Patterson High School in Baltimore, Maryland and a member of Grace Free Will Baptist Church. Rick was a veteran during the Vietnam War serving in the U. S. Army achieving the rank of SP4. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Rick was a meat cutter in Winchester, Virginia, retiring in 1994. He loved playing guitar, keyboard, writing songs and shared his musical talent by volunteering his time at many local nursing homes and the Senior Center of Charles Town. He enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing in years past, and spending time with his grandkids.
Rick married Sandra “Sandy” Jean Keister on January 19, 1974 in Baltimore, Maryland.
In addition to his wife, Sandy, Rick is survived by his son, Dennis A. Clowser (Julena), of Fredericksburg, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Rosetta Clowser; grandchildren, Kaelan, Dylan, Kyra, Alyssa, Madison, Ava, and Kaiden; sisters-in-law, Ida Ryckman, Joyce Dorsey (Gerald), and Brenda Keister; brother-in-law, Eugene Lockette; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death is a son, Gerald A. Clowser; sisters, Lois Kammer and Shirley Lockette; brothers, Wayne Clowser and Larry Clowser; and brothers-in-law, Presley Collins, George Collins, David Keister, John Kammer, and Paul Ryckman.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, 1260 Front Royal Pike, Winchester, VA 22602.
A funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 1:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Williams officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Winchester, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Kaelan Smith, Dylan Clowser, Josh Keister, Adam Harrison, Seth King, Paul Errett, and Mark Wilson.
