RAYMOND GIBSON VINCENT
Mr. Raymond Gibson Vincent, 74,of Stephenson, VA, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, in Winchester, Virginia.
Mr. Vincent was born in Shinnston, WV in 1935, the son of the late Paul Lester and Joy Virginia Vincent. He was a Nuclear Engineer at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station in San Clemente, CA from 1977 – 1987. He graduated from Westmont Upper Yoder High School in Johnstown, PA in 1953. He retired from IBEW 26 in Washington, DC, in 1997. He had a home repair shop for cars and trucks for many years. He was a former member of Annandale Assembly of God and was a Sunday School Teacher and Head of the Bus Ministry. He was President of Oceanside Pop Warner Football Association from 1984-1987. He was a member of Elks Lodge in Oceanside, CA. He was also an avid Redskins and NASCAR fan.
He married Carol V. Vincent on December 19, 1953 in Front Royal, VA. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Larry Ray Vincent and David Troy Vincent, both of Winchester, VA; grandchildren Victoria Amelia Vincent and Makenzi Skye Vincent; nieces and nephews Joy Zavada and Melody Clancy of Sarasota, FL and Duke Loos of Bristol, Tennessee; cousins, Lynda Eckard Ingram and John Eckard both of Bethesda, MD, Doyle Edward Vincent of Martinsburg, WV and Ralph Brooks Vincent of Baltimore, MD. A son, Bruce Alan Vincent and a sister, Betty Jo Fitzwater preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Omps Funeral Home – Amherst Chapel, with Pastor Louis Widtford officiating. Burial will be in Conickville Church Cemetery near Woodstock, Virginia.
The family will receive friends at Omps Funeral Home – Amherst Chapel from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday.
