Polly Josephine Wampler, 92 of Winchester, VA, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Hilltop Senior Living.
Polly Jo was born in 1932 in Loudon, TN the daughter of the late Horace and Alice Hooker. She was a member of Shenandoah Farms Baptist Church. Polly Jo enjoyed cooking and traveling.
She married Pastor Jack Kenneth “J.K.” Wampler, Sr. on December 24, 1949, in Lenoir City, TN, he preceded her in death on June 15, 2018.
Polly Jo is survived by her daughter, Janice Miller of Winchester, VA, son, Jack K. Wampler, Jr. of Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Andrea Dezan (Lane) of Winchester, VA, Jason Orndorff (Lynette) of Winchester, VA, Megan Swaim (Marcus) of Winchester, VA and Jordan K. Wampler (Makayla) of Winchester, VA; great-grandchildren, Chance Pierce and Jackson Pierce of Winchester, Va and Thayden Dezan and Kellan Dezan of Winchester, VA.
Along with her parents and husband, Polly Jo is preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel, Katherine and Freida and her brother, Arthur.
Special thanks to Peggy Wampler for the care and attention she gave to Polly over the past several years.
Polly always supported her husband Jack in the ministry. She loved her church family.
Polly was an outstanding supportive mother and grandmother. She always cooked family birthday dinners and special church events
A visitation will be held for Polly Jo on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 2pm with a service to be conducted at 3pm all held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Interment will be private. Officiating will be Deacon Jerry Dillon.
