Phyllis H. Fullerton
Phyllis Harmon Fullerton, 72, loving wife of John Fullerton, passed away early Saturday, April 2, 2016, in Winchester, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Phyllis Ann Harmon in Harrisonburg, Virginia in 1943, she was the oldest of three children born to Roy and Lorene Harmon. Phyllis grew up in Rawley Springs, Virginia where she met her husband, John, and married in 1972. Over the next eight years Phyllis and her family lived in Hawaii, Connecticut, and finally returning to Virginia. She enjoyed volunteering as a member of the ladies auxiliary for the local volunteer fire department.
Phyllis was a proud mother that greatly loved her two children, daughter, Janice and son, Jared Fullerton, who preceded her in death in 2014. Her great love for her children and the joy she had in watching them grow and seeing their accomplishments gave her pride in knowing that she was a good mother.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, John; her daughter, Janice Fullerton of White Post, Virginia; her grandson, Brandon and granddaughter, Ariel; her sister, Deborah Hilbert and her husband, Robert of Verona, Virginia; brother in law and sister in law Stan and Diane Fullerton and cousin Penny as well as nieces and nephews and many close and cherished friends.
In addition to her son, Jared, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Dale Harmon and Jerry Simmons.
Phyllis thoroughly enjoyed her yard work and the many flowers that she tended to. She enjoyed the company of people and could strike up a conversation with absolutely anyone, whether friend or stranger. She gave love, joy and hope to everyone she shared her life with.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, Winchester.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Mr. Ralph Buddenhagen and Mr. Jack Wardrope officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service at Omps Reception Center at Omps, Amherst Chapel.
